Organizations and company addresses

On this page

Everything in Bizisy belongs to one organization: a company with its own address, people, settings and Activity. Data never crosses organizations: a key, a session or a connected app belongs to exactly one, and every read and write is limited to it.

The company address#

Each company signs in at its own address, https://<company>.bizisy.com, chosen at sign-up: 3–30 lowercase letters, digits or hyphens, starting with a letter (some names are reserved). People sign in there, the web apps live there (/ for the employee app, /manage for Manage), and connected AI apps use it for OAuth and MCP.

The REST API lives on one host for everyone, https://api.bizisy.com/v1. It finds the company from the API key.

CredentialWhere it works
API keyhttps://api.bizisy.com (REST and MCP), and its own company's address (MCP and /api/v1)
Connected AI app (OAuth)Its company's MCP endpoints only
Browser sessionIts company's address only (the web apps)

Links back into Bizisy point to the company address, for example https://acme.bizisy.com/manage/people/p1 (Activity and links).

What a company holds#

  • Legal entities: the companies that employ people (one at sign-up; add more for other countries).
  • Locations: offices or remote, each with a country and a time zone.
  • Units: the structure, a tree under the company root of divisions, departments and teams, each with an optional team lead (head), the default manager of people who join it.
  • People: everyone who works or worked there, with their jobs, whether or not they have a login.
  • Members: logins, each with a role (owner, admin, HR, viewer or member) and usually linked to a person.

Dates without a time ("today", an effective date) are days in the company's time zone.

People and members#

A person is an HR record; a member is a login. They're separate on purpose: you can record someone who never signs in, and invite them later (org.invites.create). When they accept, their login is linked to their person; platform.members.link_person fixes a link by hand. platform.whoami returns your own person_id.

Roles#

RoleIn short
ownerEverything, including billing and closing the company.
adminEverything an owner does, except closing the company and disabling an owner.
hrPeople, jobs, structure, setup, invites, checklists, documents and positions; not roles, erasing people, approval settings, sign-in methods, webhooks or billing.
viewerReads the directory, structure and org chart in Manage.
memberThe employee app only: their own profile and tasks, the directory and the org chart.

The API reference states, for each action, exactly which roles may call it.
